How to Prepare Your Drawing for a Quote
A complete, correct file determines how fast and how accurately we can quote. This short checklist summarises what to prepare before you send your drawings.
Checklist
A complete quote request in six steps.
Choose the right file format
We prefer .DXF or .DWG for laser cutting and .STEP / .STP 3D models for bent and assembled parts. Add a PDF drawing for general dimensioning. For bent parts, add the flat pattern as DXF in addition to the STEP model. A PDF drawing is enough for a quotation; before production we ask for DXF or DWG. If you only have a PDF, our team prepares the DXF / 3D model.
Include the information we need
- Material and thickness
- Quantity (batch / annual)
- Required delivery date
- Surface finish (powder coat RAL code etc.)
- Tolerance notes
If anything is missing, our technical team will contact you.
Fill in the title block and tolerances
- State the general tolerance class in the title block (e.g. ISO 2768-mK).
- Give individual tolerances to functional dimensions; leave the rest to the general class.
- Add an ISO 9013 class if cut-face quality matters.
- For welded constructions, EN ISO 13920 is the general tolerance standard; ISO 2768 is not intended for welded dimensions.
Mind your bend dimensions
- Mark bend dimensions clearly as inside or outside dimensions.
- General rule: inside bend radius ≥ material thickness (r ≥ 1×t); the exact value is confirmed at quotation.
- Bend sequence, minimum flange and hole-to-edge distance are checked in the DFM review.
State surface finish and coating
- Give the RAL code and your preferred finish (matt / gloss / textured).
- Frequently used RAL shades are kept in stock; special codes are sourced to order.
- If deburring and surface preparation before powder coating are needed, they are shown as a separate line in the quotation.
Confidentiality and file limits
- Drawings and models are used only for quotation and production. We sign a mutual NDA on request.
- The quote form accepts up to 5 files, 25 MB per file and 50 MB in total.
What Happens Next?
Your quotation states price and delivery date in writing. Lead time depends on part complexity, quantity and material stock. Basic manufacturability feedback at quotation stage is part of the quote; extensive redesign work is priced separately by scope and time.
